Painter, Photographer and Writer
Jan Mattheus de Grauw is a noteworthy artist in The Netherlands and further afield.
He specialises in portrait & model drawing, painting & photography and also writing.
His works reflect his passion for people, life, love and art.
Jan: "I don't try to reconstruct what I've seen, but instead I attempt to unravel an experience and evoke the feeling
I experienced at the time. I give my fantasy free reign while I search for the unity between man and his environment..."
During the last fifteen years he has travelled to Senegal and The Gambia in West Africa on twice yearly basis.
There he works educating and coaching a group of young African artists while at the same time acquiring inspiration for his own creations.
He lives and works in his home town Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
